Gary McCarthy

Biog: I have spent almost 20 years working in Tokyo, Hong Kong, London and Dublin on debt derivatives, equities, corporate finance and quantitative research. My first passion is writing. For over a decade I wrote a daily newsletter for institutional clients called "Thoughts for Today". Somewhat contrarian, it could be concise because it focused on numbers rather than words. The readership controlled or influenced pools of capital worth in excess of $2 trillion but I always felt in a truly independent environment it could have reached a much bigger audience. My second passion is data and I am a real believer in the power of numbers over the investment emotions of human beings. I have appeared on CNBC and in the mainstream financial press many times highlighting the numbers which really count behind the headlines.

Biog: Venkman has been researching US and Pan-European companies for the past 20 years at various financial institutions and likes to thinks he’s kept up with events. No sector or theme is off-limits, although he does prefer to focus on things that interest him rather than his increasingly regulated 9-to-5 clients. That’s why he’s decided to contribute articles to WealthiFi. It scratches a frustrating itch as WealthiFi is the perfect platform for shackle-free ideas generation. What’s in it for Venkman? Well some people just like to talk… and he hates the PE ratio.

Shane Holland

Biog: Shane has spent the last 20 years working for and advising some of the world’s largest companies such as Coca-Cola, Mars, Orange, Vodafone, Peugeot and a bunch more on 3 continents. Along the way he has built businesses in Europe, South Africa and advised on commercial projects in the US. Although he would regard himself as a “marketing guy” he has worked in corporate finance for Citi and continues to be involved in Private Equity transactions as well as advising and investing in a small number of technology start-ups. He brings a different perspective on the financial markets, that of a marketing guy passionately interested but sometimes bemused, confused and occasionally inspired by the going’s on in the markets.

Jillian Ferguson

Biog: Now based in Berlin, Jill has been in and around equity markets for more than 15 years. After working on the sellside (bank analyst for a US bulge bracket, generalist European/US analyst/editor for an independent UK house) and in financial journalism across Australia and the UK, the time has come to leave behind Chinese Walls, conflicts of interest and corporate gags to promote unadulterated insights into today's markets. While primarily editing, she will also be contributing on topics of special interest from time to time.
